Karel Cornelissen spoke about NOA’s plans for 2026 and the agreement with Seriti Green
Through NOA trading platform, a significant portion of the electricity generated from Seriti Green’s Ummbila Emoyeni Wind Farm will be made available to South African businesses – expanding access to clean, affordable energy and advancing the country’s energy transition.
In an interview with Martin Creamer, Karel Cornelissen spoke about NOA’s plans for 2026 and the agreement with Seriti Green. This partnership represents NOA’s second Generation Power Purchase Agreement (GPPA) with an external independent power producer (IPP), underscoring the company’s continued growth and diversification within South Africa’s evolving private power market.
By integrating wind generation from Mpumalanga, NOA strengthens its national renewable energy mix – balancing solar and wind resources to ensure a reliable supply profile. This strategic alignment enhances the company’s ability to serve its offtakers more effectively, reinforcing its commitment to delivering consistent, clean power around the clock.
Located in South Africa’s traditional coal region, the Ummbila Emoyeni cluster (900 MW total capacity) is a landmark development in the country’s Just Energy Transition, unlocking more than R15 billion in investment and creating thousands of local jobs. NOA’s GPPA covers the third 150 MW phase (Beta) of the project, complementing existing partnerships and advancing market-based renewable energy solutions.
This achievement forms part of significant progress for NOA Group, which has secured R3.9 billion in equity financing to scale its operations and accelerate delivery across an extensive project pipeline. The 600 MW fleet of NOA-owned renewable facilities currently under construction further strengthens its position as one of South Africa’s fastest-growing private energy platforms.
Karel Cornelissen, CEO of NOA Group, commented: “Projects like Ummbila Emoyeni show how South Africa’s energy market is transforming in real time. By connecting large-scale renewable generation directly with market demand, NOA is helping to make clean energy more accessible, reliable and commercially viable, supporting both economic growth and the Just Energy Transition.”
