Iqbal Sirkot

Chief Financial Officer

Iqbal Sirkot joined NOA Group as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in 2023, bringing a wealth of expertise in financial strategy and corporate finance. At NOA, Iqbal oversees the company's financial stewardship, including financial planning, risk management, record-keeping, and financial reporting. His holistic approach to finance aligns with NOA’s mission to expand its renewable energy offering and develop market-leading solutions optimised for all stakeholders. Iqbal plays a crucial role in capital budgeting and management, ensuring that investments in wind, solar PV and battery energy storage projects maximise returns, enable broad-based impact, and support the company’s growth objectives. His leadership is key to driving NOA’s financial strategy, securing funding for new projects, and building investor confidence.

Andrew Taylor

Head of Trading & Co-Founder

Andrew Taylor is the Head of Trading and Co-Founder of NOA. He leads NOA’s trading strategy, bringing more than 15 years of experience across energy law, project finance and renewable energy development. With a background spanning senior legal and operational roles, Andrew has guided large-scale transactions and partnerships across Southern Africa and Europe. Passionate about Africa’s transition to net zero, Andrew combines regulatory expertise and a strategic approach with entrepreneurial vision to pioneer models of energy trading that drive transparency, simplicity and sustainable growth – for our customers, stakeholders, partners and NOA.

Lesedi Modise

Chief Investment Officer

Lesedi is NOA’s Chief Investment Officer and leads the group’s investment and capital management strategy. She brings a wealth of prior experience in Investment Banking, Private Equity and Venture Capital to her role, which encompasses the execution of all group capital raise activity and balance sheet optimisation initiatives, ensuring that NOA maintains a resilient and growth-oriented capital structure. Lesedi oversees project finance activity across the NOA portfolio and is the group’s primary interface with investors and venture partners.

Derik Coetzer

Head of Growth & Co-founder

As the Head of Growth at NOA Group, Derik leads NOA’s efforts to identify and engage commercial customers seeking renewable energy through wheeling on the national grid. With a deep understanding of energy markets and customer needs, he develops and executes strategies to expand the customer base and drive revenue growth. Derik cultivates relationships with key decision-makers in various industries, educating them about the benefits of renewable energy and tailoring solutions to meet their specific requirements. Through effective communication and negotiation, he ensures that NOA Group remains at the forefront of the energy transition in South Africa, empowering businesses to embrace sustainability while achieving their energy goals.

André Agenbag

Head of Development & Co-founder

As the Head of Development at NOA Group, Andre oversees NOA’s investment and procurement of wind and solar sites nationwide. Focusing on site selection, land acquisition and permitting, he ensures that NOA’s projects are strategically located and seamlessly integrated into the national grid. Andre leverages his valuations, fundamental analysis, and energy economics expertise to make investment decisions on sites to acquire and procure energy from IPPs. André plays a vital role in building NOA’s portfolio of generation assets.

Kobus Meiring

Head of Assets

Kobus Meiring is the Head of Assets at NOA Group. He leads efforts to develop, engineer, procure, construct and operate solar, wind and battery energy storage assets, delivering renewable energy to NOA’s customers via the national grid. Kobus has extensive experience in engineering, project management, and operations across various complex multidisciplinary programmes. Together with the assets team, Kobus is ready to deliver the pipeline of renewable energy projects that will form the backbone of NOA’s portfolio.

Jamie MacDonald

Head of Legal

Jamie is the General Counsel for the NOA Group. He is responsible for providing legal guidance and oversight to the NOA Group, ensuring regulatory compliance and appropriate risk management as well as leading and managing contract negotiations with key stakeholders to the business. Jamie has extensive experience in the renewable energy industry, having spent his career prior to NOA at leading international law firms advising sponsors and lenders on the project financing of energy and natural resources projects – where he was recognised as a highly regarded lawyer in finance, projects and energy by the IFLR, Legal 500 and Chambers Global. Jamie is dedicated to bringing a collegial, pragmatic and solution-driven approach to the NOA Group in helping it to remain at the forefront of the energy transition in South Africa.

Alan Matthews

Head of Portfolio Management

Alan Matthews is instrumental in developing renewable energy solutions tailored for the private sector. Since March 2023, Alan has been overseeing the strategic development and operational execution of wind, solar PV and battery energy storage projects, ensuring that these projects not only reach financial close and COD but also align with rigorous environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards. His role involves meticulous capital allocation analysis and effective project management, critical in scaling up operations while maintaining sustainability and profitability objectives. Alan's comprehensive approach to operations encompasses a range of activities essential to the business's success, from site development to the integration of cutting-edge technology across the business.

Erica Hannath is the Head of People at NOA. Erica partners with the leadership team to build an exceptional company and workplace. She leads the People and Culture strategy, implementation, and operations to empower teams to grow and perform exceptionally. With a wealth of experience in corporates and scaling start-ups, Erica brings a business and strategic mindset to the organisation. As Chief Technology Officer, Arno Middelberg leads NOA’s digital technology strategy and execution. Arno drives the development of NOA’s advanced energy trading platform, empowering the business to operate at scale within South Africa’s dynamic energy market landscape. With extensive experience and a deep passion for technology and systems, Arno enables NOA to harness modern technology and advanced analytics, optimising operational efficiency, enhancing risk management, and elevating the customer experience.

Celiwe Mabaso

Christine Krone is the Head of Marketing at NOA. Christine leads the company’s marketing and brand strategy, laying the foundations for communicating NOA’s position as a trusted independent power producer and energy trader. She brings extensive experience across industries including renewable energy, financial services, higher education and consulting, with deep expertise in brand building, digital marketing, customer experience and communications. Passionate about the commercial value of branding, she designs marketing strategies that connect with stakeholders and drive business growth. As a cultural connector and strategic thinker, Christine is committed to building a strong and authentic brand that reflects NOA’s vision and values, while supporting its mission to power a Net Zero Africa.

Werner Engelbrecht

Head of EPC

Werner is a highly experienced engineering and business development leader with over 30 years in the energy sector, specialising in renewable energy projects across Africa. Currently, he leads the execution of utility-scale wind and solar projects, ensuring they are delivered o‌n time, within budget, and meet technical, commercial and financial requirements. Prior to NOA, Werner served as Business Development Director at BTE Renewables, where he led the development, construction, and operation of wind and solar projects. Werner also held senior roles at BioTherm Energy, where he successfully closed $190 million worth of solar PV projects in South Africa and led project development efforts across Africa. Werner began his career at Eskom, contributing to the $1.8 billion Majuba thermal power plant project. He holds an Electrical and Electronics Engineering degree from the University of Johannesburg.
