NOA and Mulilo reach financial close on one of South Africa’s largest solar projects
Published: 20 April 2026
We’re excited to share a major milestone for NOA and for South Africa’s energy transition: our offtake partner Mulilo has successfully reached financial close on the 380 MW DC Beaufort West Solar PV facility near Beaufort West in the Western Cape – one of the largest utility-scale solar developments in the country. Once operational, the facility will deliver approximately 818 GWh of clean electricity annually to commercial and industrial customers across South Africa through a multi-year Power Purchase Agreement with NOA. That’s enough to power approximately 345,000 households every year, while avoiding an estimated 860,000 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent emissions annually.
This project is a strong reflection of what NOA is built to do: connect reliable, competitively priced renewable energy to businesses that need long-term supply certainty. Partnering with developers like Mulilo – who have the track record and the expertise to bring complex projects of this scale to financial close – is central to how we deliver on that promise.
As NOA Group CEO Karel Cornelissen noted: ““Mulilo is a partner with a proven ability to deliver high-quality renewable projects, and this financial close reflects the strength of our collaboration and shared ambition. With this transaction, NOA’s diversified portfolio now approaches 1.5 GW of generation capacity in construction and development across owned assets and strategic offtake partnerships, enabling us to connect reliable renewable energy to commercial and industrial customers that need certainty and long-term supply.”
We congratulate the entire Mulilo team, their shareholders and all the financial and legal partners who made this happen. Read the full press release.
This is what the energy transition looks like at scale – and we’re proud to be part of it.
