Head of Sales

NOA Trading is seeking a Head of Sales who embodies a genuine passion for renewable energy solutions and thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. As the Head of Sales, you will be responsible for leading the sales strategy and activities of our sales team.  You will play a critical role in expanding our market presence, driving revenue growth, and forging strategic partnerships.

This position reports directly to the Chief Growth Officer of NOA Trading and requires a dynamic leader with a proven track record in sales management within the renewable energy, or similarly complex corporate sales, industries.

Responsibilities:

Sales Strategy Development

  • Develop, implement and refine a comprehensive sales strategy driven by laser focussed customer segmentation to source, validate and convert qualified leads into lifelong NOA Customers.
  • Identify key growth opportunities, product and market entry strategies, product development and expand market segments to deliver a balanced and bankable portfolio for NOA Trading.

Business Development and Relationship Management

  • Cultivate and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including channel partners, C-Suite commercial and industrial decision makers, governmental bodies, industry groups.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities and strategic partnerships to expand NOA Trading’s presence and reach into the South Africa electricity supply industry.

Sales Team Leadership and Management

  • Recruit, lead and develop a high-performing sales team, providing guidance, strategic support to ensure the successful execution of sales strategies.
  • Foster a collaborative, authentic, direct and results-driven culture, underpinned by teamwork within the NOA Trading team.

Contract Negotiation and Deal Closure

  • Support the negotiation and execution of complex energy supply agreements, oversee sales engineers in their support of energy supply agreement negotiation.
  • Ensure that sales processes are efficient, compliant, and aligned with company policies.

Market Analysis and Competitive Intelligence

  • Stay informed about industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor activities.
  • Utilise market insights to refine sales strategies and capitalise on emerging opportunities.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including portfolio management, IPP sourcing, project development, finance, legal, and engineering teams, to ensure delivery of customer commitments.

Performance Tracking and Reporting

  • Implement an agile process to manage and report on sales activities, including the design and execution of OKR’s within the NOA Trading Sales Team.
  • Provide timely and accurate sales forecasts and reports to senior management.

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years’ of progressive experience in sales management, preferably in the renewable energy industry or related sector (large scale, complex B2B experience a distinct advantage, including enterprise software sales, data centre sales).
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and driving business growth in long and complex sales cycles, articulating a precise value proposition and guiding customers through the sales funnel.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing, reporting on and delivering a robust sales process.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a high-performing sales team.
  • Exceptional negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence at all levels.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement innovative sales strategies.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for renewable energy and sustainability.
  • Ability to travel domestically as needed.
