About NOA
NOA is an integrated renewable energy independent power producer established to provide its customers with innovative and flexible solutions on their journey towards ‘Net Zero’ emissions and low-cost clean energy. It does this by wheeling the energy generated by utility-scale solar and wind generation facilities, augmented by battery energy storage systems.

  • A strong balance sheet with secured and disbursed equity funding from blue chip shareholders (the Old Mutual group, via the Ideas Managed Fund and the AIIF 4 Fund, both managed by AIIM) with long standing commitment to the renewable energy space in Africa.;
  • An innovative capital and operational structure backed by a top-tier South African commercial institution; and
  • development partnerships with several of the most successful project developers in South Africa, with successes in both the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Program (REIPPP) and the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) space.
  • An aggregation entity (NOA Group Trading) aimed, in part, at disrupting the conventional project finance model that has characterised the C&I space to date, which has recently obtained their trading licence from NERSA.
  • Demonstrated track-record through some of the first private wheeling transactions to enter construction (including 30MW currently in operations for a listed mining company) and more than 625MW of wind and solar generation facilities in the financial close process
  • An agile group of energy sector veterans committed to making a major contribution to the low-carbon energy transition – both in South Africa and across the rest of the African continent – who have been assembled to realise a mission of delivering more than 10GW of clean energy generation in the next 10 years.

About the Role

NOA seeks an experienced Contracts Manager to join our Trading Operations team.

The role plays a key role in designing, implementing and managing the post-signature lifecycle of customer energy supply agreements (CESAs) and generator power purchase agreements (PPAs). This includes overseeing regulatory compliance, preparing and populating risk matrices and obligation trackers to ensure contractual obligations are adhered to and ensuring customer readiness across different phases of the customer lifecycle, while driving continuous improvement to deliver a best-in-industry ofcontract management system, supported by clinical and predictable processes.

The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a proactive approach to solving complex challenges and building new processes. This role requires a combinationof technical expertise in contract administration, exceptional stakeholder management skills, and a passion for delivering successful outcomes that align with NOA’s mission to support customers in achieving their net-zero ambitions.

Key Responsibilities

The Contracts Manager is responsible for ensuring the effective management and compliance with all contractual obligations associated with our generator and customer agreements while holding counterparties accountable for their obligations. customer energy supply agreements and
generator power purchase agreements (PPAs).

  •  Oversee post-signature contract administration, including tracking deliverables, CP fulflilment, contractual milestones, and compliance with energy supply agreements and PPAs
    in a suite of trackers to monitor and report on these dimensions.
  •  Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, and industry standards, mitigating risks and proactively addressing potential legal issues.
  •  Draft contractual documents, including amendments, variations, extensions, and forma notices, while maintaining accurate records.
  • Manage risk and dispute resolution, identifying potential risks, implementing mitigation strategies, and facilitating conflict resolution.
  • Facilitate stakeholder communication, ensuring seamless coordination between internal teams, customers, and external partners.
  •  Enhance contract management through process improvements, efficient reporting, risk mitigation, and compliance advisory support.
  •  Documentation and Record-Keeping – maintain organized contract records, track obligations and milestones, and ensure proper documentation for audits and reviews.
  •  Support contract negotiations, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to optimize contractual terms.
  •  Generate accurate reports on contract performance, compliance, and risk management to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Market Expertise – Interest and ability to continuously learn about the evolving South African electricity market, staying updated on regulatory changes to effectively guide customers
    through market transitions.

This role demands a meticulous, proactive approach to contract management, ensuring successful company outcomes and safeguarding the company’s commercial and legal interests.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

I ) Qualifations

• LLB or relevant degree
• 8+ years in commercial or large-scale project contract management, preferably in energy, renewables, large scale infrastructure projects.

II) Experience

  • Strong contract administration and document management expertise.
  •  In-depth knowledge of energy supply agreements (CESAs) and PPAs.
  •  Excellent understanding of compliance, regulatory frameworks, and risk management.
  •  Strong analytical skills for contract performance tracking and issue resolution.
  •  Strong commercial and numerical skills to quantify risks and make recommendations on mitigation strategies.
  •  Effective stakeholder management and communication skills.
  •  Ability to manage change and assess contract modifications’ impact on timelines and obligations.
  • Proficient in reporting for strategic decision-making and stakeholder alignment.
  •  Tech-savvy, proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant workflow tools.
